I've had trick or treaters! LOL Fun stuff. See, there are four dorm buildings in my residence hall, and so we arranged a trick or treating thing in the building. My roommate is a vamp from Buffy - she bought liquid latex and made herself ridges and a grrr face. Me, I don't get much into this holiday when I don't have friends forcing me into dressing up. So, I'm Willow from Buffy this year. LOL Jeans, cute little green poncho, and I flipped the ends of my hair out (since I already have her hair color and style! <.g>). I also have a spell book and did a few Wiccan Samhain celebrationy things. Great costume, don't you think? <.snicker> (PS, no I didn't call up any demons. <.g> I buried an apple to feed the dead as they pass to the other realm or wherever they head. I would have lit a candle to help guide their way, but can't in a dorm. So, I lit up orange and purple light strings in my window instead. LOL)
Happy Halloween/Samhain!

I have the funnest collection of CDs on while I wait for E to come home :-) Pretty creative, huh?!

I've spent a lot of the day working on something with Cheryl. Its gonna be super cool!! You'll see it when its ready . . . I promise!!!

Super cute story about Kaycee!!!

See the orange and black in the blogger button over there? That's as decorated as my blog got for Halloween! ROTFL!!! Happy Halloween everyone!!!

My little brother and about 5 little boys came to the door <.giggle.> My brother decided to trick or treat as an old man - he has an old man mask and a silly vest on LOL! What cute boys! Now my day is complete, I got to have trick or treaters! They'll probably be the only ones :-) (For the record, I'm a good witch. I'm wearing black pants and a black tank with my lavender button up shirt pulled over top and a black fur boa in my hair, which I curled up a little more than normal. And lots of sparkles - that makes me a *good* witch :-) Fun stuff, more for myself than anybody else!!!!!)

Sometimes, retailers don't make any sense to me. For instance, look at the price of Return to Me on video. Okay, I can understand that. But, now I want you to take a gander at the price of the same movie on DVD. Good thing I have a DVD player.

Okay, this was NOT a comforting conversation. <.g> Me: I think I'm going to skip my classes tomorrow and Thursday. It still hurts to walk. Jen: Does it hurt here, along the edge? <.she points to her foot> Me: Yes! Exactly! Jen: You sprained your foot. No! Bad! LOL But she'd know, she's sprained hers a few times.

Okay, that's totally obnoxious. I had some Moody tags on my sidebar and now they are coming up as big boxes on my sidebar instead of the cute little icons that were there. I went back to the instructions, and it said: "When you join, you must copy and paste the image code exactly as it is. This means that your little image should link back to this site. " Went back and looked at the image code, and yup, it had the images loading directly from their server just like I did. That's obnoxious, I'm sorry for those of you who had to look at the page with the sidebar all screwed up!

I am the proud girl who now has two halfs to a desk - today, we picked up a second table so now I have two of them in an L shape in my office! Originally, I was promised a real desk before I started working, but that was June 98, and I've had the same 1 table for the whole time. So today, I got upgraded to two desks :-) Yea for new things! (told dad this was the cheapest upgrade to my desk he was gonna get away with LOL!)

Have you ever gotten to visit reflect.com!? Its not only a beautiful site, but it has some really cool ideas. It lets you customize makeup and lotions based on your personality and likes and its lots of fun :-)

I absolutely love the words of this Steven Curtis Chapman song that Kendra posted - its one of my favorites from Speechless, second only to What I really want to say (words here).

I love Toddler/baby talk :-) Its much fun to be the only person who understands their language. Now you might be saying - Kristine, you don't have kids, how would you know? But I have had kids, they just are my siblings <.g> I'm 12 years older than Matthew, so I've had lots of baby talk :-) And Megan made up LOTS of words as a baby - she used to call mouse traps Trap Mouse and instead of wadding things up, she crapped them up :-) Its all lotsa fun :)

Thank you, Tina!!! I'm glad to share my stories because it seemed like such a magical day!! :-)

If you guys would like to see my wedding pictures and my complete recap of the wedding, it's up now!!!! Kristine and Eric's Wedding Recap Here's a few highlights (click for a larger version):
our formal picture Len gives away his little girl almost kissing happy couple in the receiving line best man and maid of honor toast
Hope you enjoyed my little gallery!

Thanks to the 17 of you who voted in my poll. It definately came out (as I thought) that most blog-minded people thirst for information. I know I do - I'm always searching for new things and more knowledge. Blogging helps that for me :-) Anyhow, I took the poll down this morning when I adjusted my sidebar. Thanks!

I can't believe its snowing already where Carol and Dara are already!!!! Its gonna rain here today, I think - and more rain for Halloween. Wow, its only 39 degrees right now!!

Look at the background here!!! Happy Halloween from Mindbloggle! Those cats are hilarious, Gaile!!

Sorry to be so absent lately! I've been working on a new layout for a site (which I had a nice brainstorm for in the middle of the night!!), and spent the weekend with my sweet husband (I love saying that!). We went house looking - dreaming through the areas we might like to live in, and ultimately decided that we probably will go to just a bigger apartment while we save for a house. It was really a lot of fun looking at our options together!!

and wow, the layout at Al-Noor is looking way nice!!! The fine black lines and colors that almost match Kellea's main site and the neato scroll bars all make it look neato :-)

Oh, I'm glad this look came back to Recycled Thoughts... :-) Its the one I most identify this blog with!!! :-)

UGH! It's 1:59am, and my stupid roommate is passed out on the floor of our room. She whined, "I'm not used to being this drunk anymore." Her friends helping her in reminded her that it takes a lot of effort to get this drunk. So now it's 1am again and my room smells like vomit, I can't find room spray, and I'm way too awake for my own good. Damn her.

This means that Cheryl and Carol and me are all very close to the same age (I'll be 25 in April) :-) The fun thing is that we are all married or almost married and have wedding sites, and so I have this unique connection to them both in that way, as well :-) I feel lucky to have such nice friends that this funny thing called blogging has made me!!! just thought I'd share this profound thought LOL!

Thursday, October 26, 2000

Cheryl's thinking about a recipe blog... that's a really cool idea :-) I wish I had the time to cook more - I am happy to say that I'm learning to cook more and more things, but we still eat lots of little pizzas and mac and cheese :-) I work with several friends who have been married much longer than me and have kids and they have such great foods they cook. So I'm trying to suck up their knowledge and ideas!!!!!

Happy Birthday, Carol :-) May your day be full of happy things!!!!

Remember when I said my friend David's wife Mindy was in the hospital until their twins were born? Well, David called me today - Mindy had the babies on October 18th. They have a girl named Lexie Paige and a boy named Elijah Rueben. The babies were born at 26 weeks gestation - both are still alive, and there's a 90% survival rate, but complications could definitely arise. David asked for prayers, so please send them some well wishes. They're all going to need it. But meanwhile - CONGRATS to them both! They'll be great parents. : )

. venus . diablo . dot . com . | . spirit . guide . I meant to blog this a few days ago because I like the design a whole lot - the purple is very cool :-) Hi Shannon <.waving.> :-)

Oh, Dara, I liove Kryptonite :-) The first time I heard it, the words reminded me of the show Lois and Clark, which was my favorite for years. And I really like buy.com - they got me Toy Story 2 on the 14th instead of the 17th when it came out, so I was super happy!!! I tend to price check all of the sites before I buy something, though, so that usually narrows down where I'll buy it :-)

Tuesday, October 24, 2000

Thank you and you for the well wishes; I think I'm on the road to recovery! {{{hugs}}}

I'm pretty tired. I think I wore myself out by trying too hard on my first day back after this cold. My throat is kinda sore - like the kind of sore that it has right before you loose your voice? And I could barely make it the hill walking home tonight because my joints are so sore. It's not even a half a mile home, and it tired me out so bad I had to lay on the bed as soon as I got in the door!!! Wow, I'm a weenie!

I was excited to notice that b i n d i is back and isn't just a blog anymore :-) I enjoyed reading this blog before, but Lish didn't post very often so I stopped reading. But now she's back :-)

Welcome home, Dara!!!! I'm glad you had a good trip :-) A cruise sounds like lotsa fun . . . someday, I might do just that :-)

This is super cool and worth mentioning: NFL.com: NFL For Her The NFL will donate $5 for every page view, up to $50,000, to the Komen Foundation

I'm feeling a little better this morning - I'm gonna go to work, and hopefully make it through the whole day. I think I'll bring my Vicks44D with me, though :-) I got a lot done from here - I have a Peachtree book which I'm reading (and highlighting and writing notes in - I feel like I'm back in college, but this is the kind of research I like!) Eventually, I'll be an expert on this subject <.g.> And cool, I found a cheaper place to buy the program then straight from the company - check out Buy.com when you are trying to find something to buy online :-)

Monday, October 23, 2000

CONGRATULATIONS Cheryl on your new job!!! That's super exciting!!! And good luck on the youth minister position as well, I'm sure you would be great at both jobs :-) I *love* your new look! The stable lavender is just so nice and blends well with the new elements well :-) The lacey border is pretty too! Oh, yeah, and thanks mucho for the get well card :-) It brought a big smile to my face even through the sniffles :-)

When I am feeling this sick and sad, I have to remember that there is always someone who I should be praying for because she's having a much harder ordeal than my little cold - . : living colours : . Send up thoughts for Kaycee, guys.....

I'm staying home sick today. This hasn't happened since last Christmas, so I guess it was due to happen. I'm super weak this morning - I wouldn't make it walking to work, my legs are too shakey........ So I'm reading my morning blogs and going to do some work research from my desk until my body tells me I need a break and then I'll curl up on the couch with my blankies :-} I found several new blogs this morning - !~Me, Myself, and My TThoughts~! and Blog for Thought.... I love having new reads and sometimes the best ones come from other friend's links :-) Its fun to see how many links you have to go thru to get back to a list that has someone you know's name on it!!!

Well, last night I decided to be creative with my hair. I took a shower then instead of this morning, and braided about 20 little braids in it to dry overnight. When I first took them out, they kinda looked like Emily Quartermaine's hair lately. Then I had to comb it. Now I think it looks more like Gillian Anderson's old hair. Only longer. LOL Hope this barrette keeps it nice and pulled back and NOT Gillianish. (Who'da thunk I'd ever say that?!)

Sunday, October 22, 2000

Well, its confirmed. I'm sick.... Don't get too close to your monitor while reading this, you might catch my bug!! Blah! So if you don't see much blogging, you'll know why.

Saturday, October 21, 2000

I just spent the last two hours with Lisa and her daughter Kate. Lisa had been my brother's aide in kdg and 1st grade, and continues to be a dear family friend. Kate's 14 months old now, and I am so head over heels in love with her! She's so cute. I want a Kate. <.sigh>

World Wide Web Takes a Breather: What do you think? I tend to think that more and more people are realizing that their business must be on the web in order to have a presence in every possible option. A few more comments were made on the actual story via e-quill

This is good news - Al-Noor - my prayers continue to be going up for Annalia's continued recovery :)

I'm sick <.pout> I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and a more-tired-than-usual feeling. This morning, its got the added stuffy nose and a more sore throat. I wish I didn't have to go to work. It'll just be what I need to have to walk home tonight in light rain. I need some Vicks 44D and a box of klennex to bring to work, I guess. I just have so much to do everywhere that theres no way I can not go to work. I feel so behind, both workwise and housewise. If I did stay home today, I'd really want to clean. Or work on my webpage, which desperately needs updating. Blah. I guess I'll stop whining and surf my blogs for a little while like normal. Blah!

Thursday, October 19, 2000

How come customer service people aren't always helpful? I write a really nicely worded and complete email to a company I'm trying to purchase some very expensive (to our family business) software from, and they (on 3 occassions now) have only sent me a tiny bit of an answer to my question. I really need some answers before I can know for sure what external components I need to buy, but this lady is NOT helpful. Blah. I don't know how much more specific I can get in emails to this company to try and get my questions answered before I just go out and buy the products and take them back if they don't work. Hmmmmmm.... And I hate stressing about work at home. But this is such a big endevor that its slipping into all parts of my life. Family Businesses suck sometimes.

Why am I watching CNN instead of my soaps? I have no clue, I was surfing through the channels and somehow accidently stopped on the stock market info. And then forgot to change it. No time for soaps now! Its almost time to get ready for work!

I laughed at the end of Carrie's entry for yesterday - October 18, 2000. Go and read about her singing in the grocery store :-)

SHE MOVED!!!! :: p u r e s u g a r :: I love the little hangers for permalinks, Carol!!! - to make them work, try this tutorial over at Blogger. If that doesn't work, send me an email and I'll help ya out :-)

Cheryl, thanks for the quote on the top of your blog. That's one of my favorites, and I needed that reminder today. {{{{hugs to you!}}}}}

Wednesday, October 18, 2000

I saw the advertisement for Chuck the Talking Truck tonight for the first time. I had to tell Eric the story that Christie at Joyride told the other day, and he laughed too!!! Thanks, Christie LOL!

Hey Kristin - I'm excited to see your new drawings as soon as they come out of your brain and into the computer :-) What kind of graphics tablet do you have? I've wanted one for a long time, but haven't figured out which one I should get yet. I think it'd be so much fun to be able to actually draw instead of point and click and curve and edit vectors and everything manually. I think I could flow easier and better with a tablet :-)

Good advice :-)Excite for @Home

Oh, yet another blog that I keep finding. I've been surfing friends blog lists and it usually finds me some GREAT reads. [ side bar ] Bronwyn (I love that name!) has a *beautiful* domain :-)

I hope that DaraInk comes back soon!!! :-)

I keep finding this blog from various places (most recently from Belle) - blograffiti: mel's weblog I browsed her domain, and it was fun :-)

I just totally giggle every time I visit Recycled Thoughts and the color is changed :) Gina's just having too much fun over there!!! :-)

I just got this total premonition that I won't be able to break my housing contract. <.sigh> Maybe it's just silly to keep trying for it, you know? Kate already has someone to move in if I can't, and maybe that would be for the best, more than trying to create a medical reason for me to leave and see the doctor and get everything all worked out. I don't doubt that I *could* get my doctor to help me, but it's all so rushed, and is probably for nothing. Anyone read LM Montgomery? It may only be 11:30, but I think I'm having a 3am moment.

Well, this is....this is interesting. <.g> I think the X and the cigarette smoking alien might be doable.... The Pumkin Files

Your painting job sounds so nice, Carol :-) Will we get to see pictures when its all done?! :-)

View of Portland, October 17, KATU.com
This morning, the sunrise is beautiful, so I had to share, courtesy of KATU.com - Bank Camera :-) I love this area!!

Oooh, ooh, I just took a fun survey :-)

Monday, October 16, 2000

Hey Cheryl, have you tried any of the online job searches? (decided I'd blog this note since others might like this list of helps!) That's how Eric found his jobs, by applying to many of the sites. Here's a few of them if you are interested:
I know I probably shouldn't do this, but I am getting so excited about the possibility of moving out of the dorms and into an apartment with a friend at the end of the semester. I love living in the dorm, but my roommate is driving me insane! I know we could be friends, and we kinda are, but we won't be if we keep living together. <.g> Only problem is UIUC has this thing about canceling housing in the middle of the school year - they don't like it. If I can get out of the $1000 fee they want for breaking, I am good to go. Cross your fingers!!

What sweet words from Belle at inkspill :-) I really like her blog, and need to remind myself to add her to my sidebar :-)

I took a poll this morning with the question on the top of this page. It was very interesting to me, because I crave and even do excess searches for information. I've found that this was true even before my blog, but it comes out even more in this format of journalling. So I thought I'd see what you guys think. Feel free to take the poll at the top of the page :-)

Okay, so I've gone through my morning rituals - read my email, read my daily blogs, watched some soaps - time to check the weather..... The Weather Channel - Camas, WA (98607) Ugh, Cloudy and 59 degrees. What to wear for that? Hmmmm. Maybe Khakis and a sweater set :-)

Oh, Christie, I can't wait to hear more about your house - that's great that you are getting in and that you like the quietness so far :-) Yea!!

For those of you who wondered, our BarenakedLadies concert was EXCELLENT. The situation with my sister's birthday did change. She was put in an impossible situation at work, and then fired about an hour before we were supposed to go. So, she called me, and I called Eric, and she ended up getting to go with me and Lisa as it was supposed to be originally. We were in the 2nd level on the side, but it was a really nice view. Guster opened for BNL, and they were lots of fun because the drummer played the drums totally with his hands! They sang one song that sounded familiar - Fa fa, I think. Then BNL came out, and they were hilarious the whole time. They sang many songs I knew, but quite a few I didn't. Their stage was really neato - it was like a giant head with lighted hair and they came out of the giant mouth, and the hands held two giant screens. Very hard to explain, but it was cool :-) We had lots of fun, and it was nice to be out with the girls :-) I'd highly recommend going to one of their concerts if you get the chance :-)

I had seen this blog the other day in my surfing, but never found my way back to it until Cheryl blogged about it yesterday!! Belle at inkspill.org has a fun writing style, and is also a 20-something who is married, so there's another thing I can relate to with her :-) Of course, I almost didn't recognize that I had been here since there is a major halloween redo of her site since I visited it LOL!

Damn those fucking bitches! I am so mad and sad and upset, I can barely type and I hate that! They are NOT worth my time, and yet here I am, letting them affect me! I hate the Remember WENN fandom sometimes, I really really do. I'm writing this X-Files/Remember WENN crossover story. Mulder and Scully switch places with Maple and Scott, each going to the new time period. (2000 or 1941) Day after I post mine, this twit posts a story about this woman from 2000 who switches places with Betty and goes back to 1943. I raise my eyebrows, but ignore it. As her parts keep coming, they keep mirroring mine. Then I read other stories she's written and realize that's she's "borrowed" plot ideas from this other writer, too. And this other writer is royally pissed off. So I post my brief comment about "isn't yours kinda similar to mine? <.g>" She says yeah, but it's taking a new angle soon. Other writer comes up and posts that she noticed it too, and knows that the girl did the same to hers. Sparks this whole fight, with everyone on the twit's side against me and this other woman. One member, who had been a friend of the other writer, writes in support of the twit that she had a lovely story and every one knows that she didn't copy. UGH! That died down that day, and things kinda went back to normal. I was at chat tonight and it turned to the twit and her story. Same stupid idiot told twit girl that no one thinks she copied, and she should keep writing it. That made me so mad! But I feel so sick and headachy and just awful and I can't fight tonight and they're NOT worth my sadness and energy but it made me so upset. This same idiot kept saying that the discussion should have been in private, and there she is like goading me into a fight and pulling people into sides when twit and I are both in chat together and we all know no one is on my side except the other writer. Who's also mad right now, and wants to IM the idiot and fight it out. More power to her, because I just CAN'T! I usually love a good fight and shaking up of status quo when I know I'm right, and I am, but I just can't. I hate this feeling, and I hate that I let them do this to me. It's times like these I just want to get out of this fandom because it hurts me more than I enjoy it, but I love this show, and that's not fair. <.sigh> Long sad whiny bad blog. : ( Sorry.

Happy Birthday, Matthew!!! Its my little brothers 12th birthday today. He's one of my best friends because I feel like I helped raise him (I was 12 when he was born) and he has been homeschooled which means that when he's done with schoolwork (or the lack of schoolwork), he comes and visits me at work. He has many of the same interests as me - he's more into computers than any of my siblings, and we love laughing together. Isn't that picture adorable? its from sometime during this year, since it has just my engagement ring on it :-) So today, we get to go and help him celebrate. Silly boy, he decided that instead of a normal cake, he wanted a cheesecake <.g> I hope mom remembered that! His present from me is being shipped on the 17th, so he has a few days to wait, but I know he'll like it :-) I love you Matthew!!!

Carol, your nativity set is really pretty! Thanks for helping get Rina and me in the Christmas mood :-) And that's really cool that you get to do Thanksgiving for both families - do they both live close? Eric and me are going to CA to have Thanksgiving with his family this year, and then we'll be here for Christmas. Somehow, I don't think I'll luck out on being able to have Christmas at home every year with this silly 2-family stuff {giggle} But I'd love to have a big enough table to have everybody over here - we only have a little 4-person table and practically no where to sit besides. So now that the wedding is over and things to do are supposidly dying down, we need to look for a bigger place than my apartment :-> Between you and your nativity set and Cheryl and Rina and their Christmas music, I'm totally in the holiday spirit now!!!

Friday, October 13, 2000

Okay, time to get psyched up for the Concert!! I'm not super awake right now, so I need some sugar. Putting on my BNL CD nice and loud, and looking for sugar to eat, and Lisa's on her way over to get psyched up with me!!!!! Anybody got ideas how to get hyper when my brain says "its friday, time to relax"??!!

So, Carol is blogging about December. YAY!!! I'm not alone! I've been in a Christmas mood since about Labor Day. <.g> Every so often, my roommate will play The Chimpunks Christmas Song, and I've already unearthed my Harry Connick Christmas CD and brought it to school. LOL I've even begun planning my Christmas redesign, and fought with my roomie about when I can put up my 2 foot tree from American Girls Comany. It helps that the Frasier rerun on right now is a Christmas ep. <.giggle> Now I'm obsessed. LOL

This is getting insane! What is with my school's menu this week? For lunch I had grilled PB&J. *Grilled.* For dinner, they are serving sauteed Tilaparia and fried okra. Okra I know, even if I'm slightly disgusted by it, but what is Tilaparia?? Please enlighten me. PS - my pet fly is still around. His name is Charlie.

I thought of a good way to describe this blog: Sporatically Prolific. We aren't always so talkative, but when we are good, we are *very, very* good :-> Our subtitle says : best friends from the across the country blog about the wonder of being romantics in the modern world... and I don't know that this is really the best way to describe this page. Its true, our modern lifes define us in most of the ways you see, but our backgrounds are supremely romantic. I always have acknowledged that the way I think is different and with a vision and imagination that keeps me thinking in moodfilled-colors and internet-links. Maybe I just felt like I needed to define this for myself, so you had to listen - Ha! ;-)

Hey, Laura, I'm having the same doctor problem (and the same BCP problem). I hate doctors. I hate trying to find one, trying to schedule an appointment, having my appointment cancelled after rearranging tons of things to get there and finding a ride, and just the whole thing.... I'm thinking about calling the local pharmacy and seeing if they will refill my prescription (which isn't expired yet, I'm just not with Kaiser anymore so I can't go to their pharmacy). Blah, otherwise, I'm out of my prescription soon and need to stay on it <.sigh.> I'd love it if you'd let me know what you figure out, Laura....

Yay for Friday the 13th!! It's also the X-Filey day of 1013 (Happy birthday, CC!), so I think that's making it doubley lucky for this Phile. Those two Phonetics quizzes? Turned out to be one, and it was only transcription!! The Poli Sci debate? Postponed to next week! Now I know the topics, how we're arguing, and I can be prepared! PLUS, I'm getting the housing contract breaking form mailed to me today!! I hope the rest of my day goes this well. : ) Thanks for the ratatouille info, Becky! It was indeed very yummy. <.g>

There's some good info here about Accessibility - from the idea on what people with disabilities can do to be able be able to counteract poorly designed envirmonments - Web Accessibility: 10 Things You Can Do To Help I think that if we are proactive and remember these things *before* being alerted to them, it would be cool :-)

I can't believe that Kirk Cameron turned 30 yesterday. That makes me feel really old!!!!

I just died laughing at Friends last night!!! It was a great set of new episodes!

So Carol, does that mean you are in the Christmas mood now if you are writing December editorials??! What a fun thought! Our Angelquotes list just did a Christmas in September theme at the end of last month, and it was SO much fun to see all of the Christmas sites and think about the holidays :-) If you want to see the schedule for that week, feel free to check out the 7 days of Christmas we celebrated - Angelquotes Christmas in September :-) Can you see that my brain goes on wild tangents when I read blogs?! Its my fav thing about thinking I'm going to make a little comment on something and then ending up posting a big thing! LOL!

Okay, so I checked out Al-Noor yesterday and loved Kellea's design. But this morning, its different, and I like this one too! Its really a good idea. I think I'll email her (again!) and get a pink ribbon for my site. Its a good thing to support :-)

Thursday, October 12, 2000

I have two quizzes in Phonetics tomorrow and for the life of me, I couldn't tell you what they're on. Then I have a debate in Poli Sci, but I don't know the topic OR what side I'm arguing. Think this is bad?

Megan can't go to the concert with us..... I'm SO sad :-(

My prayers are going out for Kaycee tonight.

My back is killing me. Its making me grumpy. But soon, Dragonball Z will be done taping so I can watch my soaps. Maybe I'll be happier then. I have a headache, too. I shouldn't stare at the computer screen, but I think I'll play with my new graphics anyhow :-> Smart, Kristine, smart!!!!!

More on my pre-leaving work surfing.... I found Ashley at Wobble With Ashiz She is a college student who is a Taurus like Rina and I, and she blogged the link to Zodiac Condoms - ROTFL! She's on the same domain as Zal, who I read frequently as well :-)

soap suds | it'll only sting for a second <-- This looks like a fun blog :-) I don't even mind the suds that go across the screen :-) I originally clicked on it because I liked the name, but then I got there and liked the writing style :-) Its fun to expand my blog horizon and click on new links!!!

Is this the kind of bug in your room, Rina?
Fight for your right to standards!
<.giggle.> I knew I'd seen a picture of a big bug lately, and that's what I thought of when you said you had a pet fly

I feel so productive! I love this feeling so much. I've actually accomplished the things I set out to do. (Do my Astronomy homework, review my Poli Sci book to try and find a topic, and start picking next sem's classes.) What confuses me is why I haven't been doing this lately. I make my lists so I can cross things off, and I used to do everything. Yes, with stories and talking and procrastination in between, but it *always* got done. This year though, I've been slacking off. I don't do things I know that I need to, I deliberately skip homework assignments, and I don't like it! I've been all sad and mopey and energyless this semester, and I think that's affecting my work, and I don't know why I'm like this. <.sigh> Well, I made myelf some popcorn as a reward for getting stuff done. Come on over if you want some! : ) Maybe we can watch this week's Buffy and Angel. <.giggle>

I used to use Remarq for my backup newsgroup reading... but Remarq doesn't do that anymore! That sucks. I guess I'll have to go back to Deja, cuz I sure as hell am not using AOL's newsgroup reading under any circumstances <.g>

My friend David's wife is in the hospital. : ( My mom and David run a listserv for people who support DynaVox users. (My brother Josh uses a DynaMyte, David is our rep from the company, which his dad owns.) Well, his wife Mindy is 25 weeks pregnant with twins, and she's been in the hospital since Monday. More to the point, she's going to be in the hospital until she delivers. They're really hoping that the babies won't come for at least eight more weeks, but it's all pretty scary. David's terrified, of course, but is kind of relieved that she'll be getting such good, constant care until the babies come. Now I really must do homework! What has happened to my work ethic? My desire to do good in school? My engery?! Blah. : )

I have a pet fly. When I sit at my desk, he moves from surface to surface, but always is there. When I move to my bed, he follows and lands on me, the covers, my books, etc. I think he needs a name. Yes, I am procrastinating. LOL

This looks like an awesome resource: Medical Library. ThriveOnline

Found another personality test. LOL I am so bad. <.g> Anyway, this comes from Jen Lindley's website. Dreamer Okay, you're not a joiner. That's Jen-esque. But seriously, you have to learn to exert some control over your destiny. Don't just grumble and let things happen. You can't expect everyone to make your decisions for you. Or you'll end up alone, bitter, and miserable. Of course, you could end up that way anyway, take it from me. But anyway… you're seriously lacking in the self-esteem department, and I should know. Try not to fall into the Joey Potter (and Dawson Leery, now that I think about it) trap of inaction due to indecision. Comparing me to Dawson was just plain mean! <.pouty giggle> I like the DC pages, though. The X-Files OS is doing something similar for the new season.

Anyone watch the Presidential debates last night? I swear, I must be a bad American. <.g> I missed the first hour or so because I wanted to watch Dawson's Creek. Then I decided to turn the debates on and see what was happening. It was like they were talking in tongues - they'd say "yes, I agree!" and then proceed to disagree! Totally annoying. Since I was so sleepy, I closed my eyes and listened to their voices. Bush's seemed harsh and Gore's was rocky underneath that Southern accent. So finally (after about 15 minutes) I turned on Turner Classic movies and fell asleep to Katie Hepburn in Little Women. Much more enjoyable! So maybe I'm a good American who was born a century too late? LOL Meanwhile, I'm hungry. Anyone know what Ratatouille is?

I was surfing thru some not-so-recent blogs, and I saw Becky of Bleu Blog asking: When do people usually start getting gray hairs?. Well, I'm 24, and am getting quite the assortment of gray hairs on the left side of my temple. Its really sad - I'm a highly stressed person, though, so its not suprising, I guess... Eric is the same age, and the sides of his hair are getting slightly grey too. He says its not his stress that's causing them, its worrying about my stress... <.awwww.> Anyhow, I just keep dying my hair this nice reddish color :->

Ou company has been saving SOOOOO many of these lately:
Now that I have a mug out there for them to put them in, its working out nicely! I have two more sitting on my desk to go out in the mug. Makes me feel like I'm doing something :-)

I'm going to see the Barenaked Ladies on friday night. Or at least I think I am. Lisa and me bought 3 tickets for BNL for Megan for her for her birthday. Well, Meg has tried since then (Sept 9) to try to get the evening off of work. She even worked an extra sunday this week, and they were supposed to give her friday night off if she did that. But so far, they haven't given that night to anyone else. This sucks big time because 1- this was her bday present and 2- we really wanted to go w/her. If worse comes to worse, Lisa and E and I will have to go, but that won't be the same. I'll have fun, but ... <.sigh> Blah.

Earthmovers and Sandcastles - I can't wait to keep reading this journal. Carrie is pregnant, and has such a creative writing style :-) (I found this link from Dara's page!) I can't wait to have time to read some of her archives from the last while :-)

I hope that Carol is feeling happier today.... I'm looking forward to the unveiling of the new page - I think that's coming on her birthday... [checking] .... October 26th, yup! That's coming right up! Which reminds me, I had an email with css help for her that I don't think I ever finished. Darn it, I forgot! Maybe if I blog this, I'll remember to look in my drafts when I get home for it :-)

Ya know, butternut squash and chicken fried rice really don't match well together for lunch .... *g*

Okay, I'll bite - Rina's Tests <.giggle.> We both egg each other one with these things LOL! [Personality]
MASTERMIND (Submissive Introvert Abstract Thinker ) Like just 9% of the population you are a MASTERMIND (SIAT). You can be silent and withdrawn, but behind your reserved exterior lies an active mind that allows you to analyze situations and come up with creative, unexpected solutions. Normal people call this "scheming." Don't learn German. Anyway, your sense of style and originality are your strengths, and people will respect your judgment once they get to know you. If you learn to be a little more personable, you could be a great leader--you've definitely got the "vision" thing down. Just make sure all the plotting you do behind those eyes of yours is healthy. Famous masterminds in television: Dr. Claw, The Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Montgomery Burns.
Bwah ha ha!!! [Big Fat Liar Test]
Well, you THINK you are being honest and honestly, you are not. You are the embarrassed lying type--the type that lies because you can't come to terms with your actions. Get over it. Don't sit there on the fence--either shoot for sainthood or give it up and join the rest of us who are destined for hell.
Oh dear, normally I wouldn't share such a sad result, but Rina did it, so I had to! [Unintellegence test]
66% Un-telligent! which is significantly higher than the current average of 60% Here is the custom report of your personality that led our team of geeks to conclude (with confidence) that you are resourceful and sly woman: "The subject shows a very high level of intelligence, and her sense of observation is one of her best qualities. Considering this, she shows a lot of potential, but that's only part of the equation. "Finally, the subject displayed a healthy (better than most net freaks anyway) sense of humor, a down and dirty sense of morality, and a barbaric self-confidence. The balance of these three traits is important; high levels of confidence, medium levels of morality, and a good level of humor make for the strongest individuals." Final Score: 66% Un-telligent
Wow, that's fun :->

Tammy at Web Spinner has been noticing the same thing as me:
The weather here in Oregon is starting to get cooler and a little rainy. We're suppossed to have a high of 61 today with chance of showers. I love the weather though, not too hot, not too cold.
This whether is making me want to stay home and curl up in bed!! Its been dark (because Daylight savings time hasn't changed yet) and drizzley and I can't see Mt. Hood!! Blah weather!

Dara, I was thinking about blogging about sick employees today, too! Many of our employees were borderline welfare cases, and so they can't always afford to take off a day when they are sick. So every winter, we pass colds back and forth and back and forth, and I was SO sick at Christmas last year that I missed being the hostess of the company party and most of overseeing inventory and didn't have enough energy to get a Christmas tree <.sigh.> Once one person gets sick, it spreads around so fast, and we all get whatever the cold of the week is. I don't have a good solution to this problem, either, Dara...

I blogged this yesterday from Cheryl , but my computer crashed and ate it! VegSource is another vegetarian recipe page, and Eric would love it if I would learn a few more vegetarian dishes :-> So I'm bookmarking it with the hopes that I'll come back sometime!

I am so addicted to The Spark. LOL Over a few tests, here's what they say about me: Submissive Introvert Concrete Feeler : Like just 11% of the population you are a HELPER WHO FINDS MISSING CHILDREN OVER THE INTERNET (SICF). You are very tentative in the world and introverted with people--which means you are the shy and silent type. Hence the Internet. But behind your reserved exterior lies a dedicated person with a passion for the concrete truth who wants to, in his heart of hearts, help find missing children. God bless you. [Personality] We like you. You're fun. [Big Fat Liar test, from Meet the Parents] 2,756 women agreed with you, and chose "David Duchovny" as the best sex option of all time. (This is less than half who went for Seth Green, and two thirds less than who went with James Dean. LOL ) You are 44% un-intelligent. Here is the custom report of your personality that led our team of geeks to conclude (with confidence) that you are a sad and hopeless excuse for a woman: "The subject shows a very high level of intelligence, and her sense of observation is one of her best qualities. Considering this, she shows a lot of potential, but that's only part of the equation. "Also, as much as we hate violence, an occasional mauling is one way to solve day-to-day problems like unpleasant coworkers or pesky door-to-door salesmen; she just isn't tough enough, sir, and she avoids any solution that involves iolence. "Finally, the subject displayed a poor (and a little bit boring) sense of humor, a decent and respectable sense of morality, and a lack of self-confidence. The balance of these three traits is important; high levels of confidence, medium levels of morality, and a good level of humor make for the strongest individuals." [Unintelligence test] Darn. <.g>

I am SO sad that they cancelled this series.... My AltaVista : 'Pretender' Will Return Via TNT Movies Come on, I want to see the show, not just two spaced out movies <.pout> Especially with the cliffhanger at the end of last season - Tyler Christopher made a wonderful brother to Jared :-> They are both just too hot!

I was watching The Today Show this morning, and Katie Couric was discussing with someone from a parents association and someone who believes that people who don't have kids are discriminated against in the workplace. I looked all over the Today Show's pages to see if I could find info about this, but the only thing I found (via Newsblogger) It's Not Just Working Parents Who Want Work-Life-Balance - Hodge Its really interesting from an Human Resouces view, because I know that several younger people in our workplace have expressed that they would be happy if they could go home early, like several mothers in our business do - they are scheduled on a flexible schedule to help them take care of their kids, and we have always been good about that because we've had such a family atmosphere to our small business. But we also have let people take off days for going to concerts or other functions, and give a great sick policy with days off depending on seniority. So I think that it all balances out in the end..... Just an interesting topic that I thought I'd share!!

I went to bed early last night to try and counteract the sleepyness problem I had ALL weekend and ALL day yesterday! It kinda helped, I feel less sleepy, but my head has been kinda fuzzy headachy, and so has E's so, we probably are getting sick like everyone around us. Blah!

My cable decided to go out for a half an hour during General Hospital. And boy, it was an episode I wanted to see! So I had to console myself with a recap.....

I posted my entry to a wedding dress contest over at KandeKisses :-) Maybe I'm silly, but it sounded like fun :-) P.S. I still don't have all of my recapped pictures up yet, sorry!

‘The Simpsons’ has lost its cool - oh, I don't think I agree! I love The Simpsons! Of course, I also love Futurama, so I suppose I'm not the normal person, but hey, its fun :->

We found a really cool present for my dad this weekend. It was his birthday yesterday (I won't tell how old, but he teases every year that he's 28 again :) ), and we got him a neato little Sharp Wizard organizer. He's always having me read him the phone numbers off his bulletin board while he's on the road, so this should help him :-) So now I get to program it with all his numbers and appointments and stuff, and it can be plugged into your PC and syncronized data, so when new info comes up, I'll be able to put it in the PC software and then just sync it again :-)

This is more for me than anyone else, so don't read it if you don't want... My whole weekend was spent internally fighting being worn out from fighting this sadness inside of myself. I don't know where it came from, I'm a happy person most of the time.... But I still feel not quite right today. This is not the way I want to start my work week. Actually, going to work is the thing that is furthest down on my list of things I want to do for some reason.... And I'll be there in an hour and a half <.sigh.> So I'm trying to do more things that make me happy for the moment, to make my work day seem less sad. I don't know how to explain what I'm feeling, but I felt like this needed to be recorded for me to look back on later. Another note to self - watching last years Roswell season finale was *not* the way to make me happy! That was so sad at the end!

Its a good sign when I open up a design that I was working on yesterday and still like it today <.g> That's when I'm more sure it could be a winner :-) I've tried so many this time around and just hadn't found anything that seems perfect for what I want this time.

WOW! I just caught the first new show of the season that I am so completely in love with!! Did anyone else watch Ed, on NBC? Some reviewer called him a cross between Jimmy Stewart and Jon Stewart, and they were dead on. I can't wait for next week! Hysterical lines, genuine characters, a sweetie of a lead man, and fun plots. Do guys like Ed really exist? Probably not, but I can dream. And search hard to try and find one. <.g>

My friend Robyn just e-mailed me from the hospital. : ( She's 33 weeks pregnant, and went into premature labor last night. She'll be released tomorrow, but probably with complete bedrest for at least 2-3 weeks, and maybe even until the baby comes. She's so sad and scared and mad, because her wedding anniversary is in 4 days. She and Chris had planned to go to Disney World again (that's where they were married), and now they can't jeopardize her or the baby's health. She's also scared because she's not ready to be a mommy yet, she needs those extra two months. So let's all send her some happy thoughts and prayers so she and Madeline/Samantha/Sean/Robert (they're still working on names LOL) are healthy and fine and happy. : )

Oh, Carol won a nativity scene on Ebay! I really would like a nativity scene, but I hadn't thought of checking out ebay for one, what a grand idea!!! Maybe a porcelain one... or maybe with a stable Whatever I get needs an angel :-) This isn't too bad :-) I should probably get one that someday I won't have to worry about kids touching :-) I wonder who has my grandma's.... Thanks Carol, for the idea :-)

Cheryl, sorry to worry you!!! :-) I spent the last day and a half looking at a new software package for our business. Because it is one of those 15 trials only ones, I didn't want to have too many other things up at work (include AOL or Altavista to connect) to crash it and loose one of my valuable trial options. But, it looks awesome. I wish I could find a good way to analyze whether it would really be perfect before my secretary and I spend hours implementing it over the entire Christmas season so it'll be ready at the beginning of the year. There are two versions, Peachtree Complete Accounting and Peachtree 2000 and I'm trying hard to figure out which is better (there's a major price difference, but I'm not sure whether the 2nd is worth that much more or not. Ah, the joy of business management!!!!

Nice redesign at LaLaBlog :-) But I've had a problem lately where I can't see updates to this blog unless I press refresh. Not any other blogs, just Laura's.... hmm, maybe my computer is screwed up <.giggle.>

I had the best time last night! My best friend drove down and we went to see Matchbox Twenty. I'm so in love with Rob Thomas! Our seats were dead center, but up kinda high. (Section C, row 4) So we couldn't see his face very well, but we were quite able to see the black leather pants. Isn't that what counts? LOL Anyway, he has the coolest speaking voice. Kinda sweet and smooth, and I could listen to it for hours. <.g> Not to mention, he likes to wiggle and dance around on stage. Very nice. LOL My favorite song of their has long been 3 AM, but now I have new favorites! I didn't know Rob played the piano, but he does. So they pulled out a baby grand, and he played You Won't Be Mine and Bed of Lies. The first is just so hauntingly beautiful, with the violins and trumpets. I'm playing the CD now, and loving it! I hadn't been loving it like I do the first, but now I think they're both great.

A long day for me. I looked at cars and helped my dad with the sales runs. I didn't find much of selections for a car at the moment, but the contacts there are supposed to be calling us when the next batch of trade-ins come. Now I'm watching soaps and playing with some graphics :-) yea!!!

I'm running off to a lecture on extraterrestial life right now, but I had to share! Anyone else watch the fabulous tv show Remember WENN? Well, I'm on the (sucky) main fan list for it, and Kevin O'Rourke, who played Scott Sherwood, posted! He's on the list! How totally awesome is that? Of course, that means he saw the whole riot I (innocently) started regarding feedback and plagiarism in the fandom, but oh, well. LOL Still very exciting!

Its PITCH BLACK outside. I can't even tell what kind of a day it will be by looking outside. So I looked on my weather and it says Partially Cloudy and 70s. Okay. I suppose that helped :-)

Look at all of the Halloween Costumes!! What will you be? My friend Annette's son has decided that he wants to be Goku from Dragonball Z, but that the costume in the store wasn't cool enough, so he's making Annette make him one!! LOL, I bet this will be funny :-) I was a princess one year, and that was my favorite :-) My dad made me a crown out of leather (he was working for Whitman Saddle at the time) and my mom made me a glossy fuchsia colored dress. So beautiful!! <.giggle.>

Its morning..... I haven't finished the AQs schedule or figured out what I'll wear today to go w/dad on the sales run! But I am mid way through soaps from Tuesday, when means I am *so* getting caught up!! Yea for me <.giggle.>

Tuesday, October 03, 2000

I'm trying to find some good places to search for pictures of used cars. Not because I know much about them, but because I'm going with my dad over to Longview tomorrow to look at the Honda dealers selection, and I am wishing I knew which ones I liked before hitting the lot :-) I know I want a Honda because of their reliablity. I need an automatic. Not too much older then 1985, but not much more than $5,000. Dad thinks this is a realistic idea :-) Got any good places to search for pictures? drop me a line!

I'm a moron. I realize this :-) Ya know how I whined about not going to the mall? Well, I just turned down a short mall trip. Why? Because it was my mom offering, and we are still not getting along well enough that I want to spend that much time with her. She has this fake nice thing going, and maybe she really wants me to think she's being nice, but I'm not ready to jump back into a friendship with her right now. Blah. I want to go the mall. But I'd rather go alone than the alterative <.sigh>

Its kinda fun to see different human resource solutions. I've always loved watching for these kind of news stories, not just because I have a small portion of my job that is HR, but also because I would love to work more in this section in the future :-) Employers in Every Industry Watch Hospitals' Staffing Solutions

My life is very exciting at the beginning of the TV seasons :-) Since I'm such a list person, I'm particularly thrilled to make up lists of the shows I can't wait to watch :-) So bear with me, the tv-aholic :-)
 SundayMondayTuesdayWednesdayThursdayFriday

And then on a daily basis, I watch (taped, of course, and much in fastforward!) As The World Turns, General Hospital, and All My Children. Being a tv junkie isn't all bad. I know that once the season gets further underway, I always dump a few of the shows for other things that must be done. But it sure is fun for a while to be watching such a wide fun variety of things! :-)

A big yea! out to the people behind the The Digital Divas and their win over Microsoft :-) I am happy to say that I've been supporting them with a link from my sidebar since the big ordeal started, and now I'll look forward to more news and stuff from the group after they get settled down from their triumph :-)

Congrats, Christie! Please give Garrett some birthday
kisses for garrett
from the queen of the chocolates <.smirk.> and that's SO awesome that you closed on a house. What awesome news!!!!!!

good morning..... I'm up and kinda awake, and just made it though all of my daily reads, my just founds, and even the others. I was bored <.g> I'm supposed to be working on angelquotes or even my wedding recap and pics, but its so early, and I'm just spouting excuses :-> At least I didn't take all the time in the world blogging each of my reads. Maybe I'll have time to work on angelquotes at least in the next half an hour :-)

Could you imagine this? I went to my bank to change my name and add Eric to the acct. So I tell them I need a new ATM card to reflect my name change, and they sent it out 2 weeks later, and I received it the same day E received his. Guess what name is on the card? Kristine D. Locatis, not Kristine D. Beeson. What freaks, why would I want a new one if it had my old name? Blech! <,g> So now I need to call and get a new one!!

I dreamed yesterday about going to the mall when I took a nice morning nap in the sunshine in my bedroom. I really wanted to go shopping. I wanted to go to Garden Botanika and take advantage of their 6 for 27.50 deal. I wanted to go and see what was new at Lerners because about this time of the year, they get new stuff. I wanted to check out getting some new jeans (guys wranglers, size undesclosable <.g>) because I only have two pairs. And I would have *loved* to try on some doc martens. AND I wanted to check out the brand new Old Navy in our mall! But without a car, and when Megan had too much homework, it made it too hard to do, so I stayed home and relaxed. But oh, how fun a mall trip would be :->

Have you ever hit your elbow right in the middle of the bones on a sharp pointy object? It hurts really bad!! My dressers and nightstands have sharp corners and I lifted up my arm last night in just the right places, and made my elbow hit really hard. This morning, its still a little sore to move it.... blah!!!!

I'm glad to see that Kandee is blogging again. I really really really liked the red design, but the blue is starting to grow on me - her image on the side is very nice:-)

Sunday, October 01, 2000

Last night, I finally got to watch Down to You (2000) :-) I've been waiting to see this for quite a while because the previews looked like they would be wonderful. It was wonderful :-) I love Freddie Prinze, Jr. His acting is so "I am a trustworthy sweet guy" and his care for the leading ladies in the movies I've seen him in is always so genuine. And Julia Stiles has this same genuine spirit, but with more spirit and honesty. I loved her as Kat in 10 Things..., and I plan to keep her on my list of fav actresses :)
